South Sea was taken from a Thibaut chinoiserie pattern Marco Polo, which is a pattern in the Great Estates Collection, and simplified in silhouette. The images are from 18th century French artist Jean Baptiste who created drawings of fantasy far East scenes of pagodas, palms and Asian people. The coordinating fabric is screen printed on a linen/cotton blend which gives the bright colors an almost washed feeling.
