Vintage Damask

Item No.: J3848/01

Tony Duquette was known for using beautiful antique silk damask fabrics throughout his career. In 1951, when creating his unprecedented one-man exhibition at the Louvre Museum’s Pavillon de Marsan, he covered the walls with yards and yards of a well-worn, slightly faded and in occasionally shabby red silk damask which he found in the Paris flea market. Vintage Damask has the same qualities that Duquette sought when purchasing the antique silk so many years ago. This classic Italian damask pattern is woven with a fine silk warp satin and textured weft yarns that subtly catch the light and look like metallic gold or silver.
